I go through phases with my shampoo and conditioners, splurging on pricey salon products and then trying out other cheaper brands. So when I heard that the John Frieda Root Awakening Shampoo and Conditioner had won an Australian Beauty Award 2010, I figured I’d try it out. I chose the Strength Restoring version for Breakage-Prone hair as I have thin/fine hair that breaks like crazy!
Out of the duo the shampoo is the real winner for me. It makes my hair incredibly shiny and manageable, and it smells great! The eucalyptus definitely gives it a different smell from the usual fruity or floral scents that you find in most shampoos so it’s really invigorating! I can totally see where the root awakening name comes from. My hair and scalp feel so CLEAN and the scent is a great morning pick me up! It also doesn’t take a lot of product to get a good lather.
Don’t get me wrong, the conditioner is fabulous too! It’s very lightweight, so great for everyday use and has the same energizing scent. I just find that it’s lightweightness (that’s a word right?) is not moisturizing enough for my dry ends so I have to follow up with a leave in conditioner. If you have normal hair, this would be fantastic for you but if you have dry ends like me, I’d give it a miss.
Ok so the verdict on the “Strength Restoring”… Jury says YES! I do feel like my hair has had less breakage for the past couple of weeks that I’ve been using this. My hair is smooth and oh so shiny. It just feels really healthy and clean! The John Frieda Root Awakening shampoos and conditioners are definitely something to keep an eye out for if you’re in the mood to try something new.
