A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to win a Bloom Cosmetics competition on Facebook! Yay! The awesome prize was 4 products from their new Disco Nights Collection which was released on October 5th 2010.
I must admit when I first heard it was a disco collection, I had all these images of bright and colourful blue, green, purple etc eyeshadows, so was a little terrified at what I might receive and how I would use them! However, when the package arrived I was pleasantly surprised. All the colours were shimmery neutrals – definitely right up my alley!
Swatches left to right: Sparkle lip gloss, Sun, Venus and Jupiter liquid eyeshadows
Shimmer Liquid Eye Shadows RRP $22 AUD
The shadows are made from a water based formula and dry to a lightweight, powder finish. I’ve never tried an eyeshadow like this before, they are sooo cool! As you can see they are jam packed with sparkly shimmer and the colour payoff is pretty good. You can use the doe-foot applicator it comes with, a brush (I used the MAC 242) or even your fingers to apply. They can be a little tricky to work with and blend, because the shadows dry super quick and once dry do not budge!! This a good thing but you need to work fast. I found the best way to apply was to put a glob on your eyelid then quickly spread where needed and blend with the brush. My fave out of the 3 is definitely Sun. Such a gorgeous versatile colour, that can be used all over the lid and as a inner corner or brow highlight. I even used it to highlight down the centre of my nose and on my cupid’s bow!
My pictures definitely do not show off all the glittery goodness enough!
Super Shimmer Lip Gloss RRP $24 AUDI’ve always loved Bloom’s lip glosses and this one is no exception! The colour is a really pretty pinky plum, and would suit most skin tones. It contains light reflecting microglitter, so nothing chunky and I love the vanilla taste and scent! The gloss is shiny but not overly so. I’m definitely not a fan of the ones that make your lips look like plastic-y bits of vinyl. It’s also fab because it’s enriched with calendula and evening primrose oils, so not only do you get shiny sparkly smackers, you get healthy plump lips too!
“No longer a disco cliché, glitter is back with a vengeance! Think super shimmery lips and sparkling eyes for a look that will take you from the dance-floor to dawn,” — Natalie Bloom.
I totally agree. This collection is ALL ABOUT THE GLITTER! I’m loving all the products I received and will definitely be checking out the other items in the collection.
|Me trying to do a disco pose?!? Haha. Final look using all items.
The Disco Nights collection is available at selected Myer and David Jones stores, Bloom’s Flagship Store (Chapel St, South Yarra) and online.
