Stila ‘Trendsetting in Tokyo’ Travel Palette!

I’ve never been to Japan but this new Stila “Trendsetting in Tokyo” Travel Palette almost has me feeling like I’m in the middle of one of the busiest and most colourful cities in the world (also the home of sushi, which I am now craving!). Trendsetting in Tokyo is one of five limited edition Stila Girl Travel Palettes, all of which include 4 eyeshadows and a Convertable Colour in complementing colours for different cities. According to the Stila website, this palette has been inspired by neon lights and classic geisha trends, and will have you looking very fashion-forward 😉

Clockwise from the top left: Eyeshadows in Sake, Kawai, “Peace Sign”, Shibuya and the Convertible Colour in Sakura

Stila is usually known for their velvety smooth, pigmented eyeshadows, but these 4 don’t quite hit the mark. Sake is a light shimmery beige, that works only OK as a sheer highlight on the brow bone. Kawai, as much as I love the name, I really didn’t feel the same way about the shadow. It is a VERY light shimmery pink, that hardly shows up on me. I can see it working well with lighter skin tones though. Shibuya was my fave shadow from the 4. It is the most gorgeous matte royal blue. It is very pigmented albeit slightly on the powdery side, but it’s no problem when applied over a good base. The last shadow has no name, just a picture of a “Peace Sign” and it is a pretty shimmery black, the texture and pigmentation is quite good.

Eyeshadows in Sake, Kawai, Shibuya, “Peace Sign” and the Convertible Colour in Sakura

The Convertible Colour in the palette is called Sakura and I ADORE IT! I have previously blogged about my love for the Stila Convertable Colour in Lillium, but I may love Sakura just a tad more. Too bad it’s limited edition! Sakura is a BRIGHT hot pink, with a slight blue undertone. It’s nice on the cheeks if applied with a really, really light hand, but I like it most on the lips. The formula and finish is fab too, not drying at all like the original Convertable Colours!

I applied Sakura as an eyeshadow base, Kawai all over the lid, Shibuya in the outer corner/crease, and Peace Sign smudged into the upper lash line. I also used Sakura for the cheeks and lips.

I picked this up at Mecca Cosmetica for $25 AUD. The price is awesome considering what you get. The eyeshadows are a good size and CC is super pretty. I wouldn’t say “run out and get this” but it’s nice to have.

You’re kidding, $25??!! I don’t think I’ve seen anything at Mecca Cosmetica for that price lately. I think I know what shop I’ll be heading to soon 🙂

PS the colour Lilium is gorgeous.
