NOTD: OPI's Over the Taupe!

I absolutely LOVE this colour!! It's a gorgeous warm chocolatey brown taupe colour. Neutral enough that it goes with everything but also a unique colour that stands out and looks very trendy. Application was easy, the wide brush and formula make the nail polish glide on smoothly and streak-free. I used 3 coats for my desired opacity.

I'm crazy about Over the Taupe - it's the perfect nail polish for winter!

Haul: MAC In The Groove

Yay I finally had time to head into MAC today to check out the In the Groove collection that was released in Australia last Monday 26th July. Yes, we are always really late when it comes to new releases here and it is so annoying but I guess it's kind of a good thing too. Bad because I have to wait in jealousy, but good because I get to hear all the reviews on the products first and it gives me time to really think about what I want - otherwise I know me, if it looks pretty, I'll just buy it (this still happened though lol).

My Groove wish list contained 6 items and I came home with 4. Pretty good ay? So without further ado, I present...

By Candlelight MSF, Jazzed lipstick, Happy Together blush duo and Hang Loose blush duo.

Clockwise from the top: By Candlelight MSF, Hang Loose, Jazzed lipstick, and Happy Together.

I had also wanted to get the Love to Love eyeshadow trio but stopped myself because truthfully I already have way too many neutral brown eyeshadows, and also the lipstick in I Like It Like That but it really didn't suit me.

My thoughts and swatches at the bottom :)

By Candlelight Mineralize Skinfinish $46 AUD

I missed out on getting this when it was last released so I was eagerly anticipating the re-promote. It is such a pretty combination of pink and warm gold, that when swiped on your cheeks immediately makes them come to life! It has great pigmentation, so can easily be worn on it's own as a blush on lazy days or as a highlighter on the cheekbones.

Jazzed Lipstick $35 AUD

Everyone has been saying that this is the must have item from the collection, and they are not wrong! It looks like a bleh orange in the tube, but once swatched it reveals a perfect pinky coral colour which is perfect for summer (or those of us who wish it was summer). I've only recently started getting into lipstick, was previously only a strictly gloss girl, so this has expanded my horizons. I'm loving the cremesheen formula, opaque but slightly shiny at the same time.

Hang Loose Blush Duo $50 AUD

This was lust at first sight and love at first swatch. It's absolutely gorgeous. One side is pretty light satin pink and the other side is a shimmery lilac, swirl them together and WOW. The two colours give such a pretty glow, definitely not the usual pinky peach colour that I that have been gravitating towards for my cheeks as of late. Reminds me a little of Well Dressed blush from the permanent line, which I've been meaning to get for ages, but better - I love the shimmer!

Happy Together Blush Duo $50 AUD

Mmm didn't open and swatch this since I'm a little undecided on whether or not to keep it! I didn't get to swatch it in store as someone else was playing with it and I was in a rush so I just purchased based on how it looked in the pan/box. It's sooo pretty, but is it too neutral?? Will it even turn up on my skin? Can I get the same effect with Laguna bronzer and By Candlelight MSF?? It's expensive too, might exchange it for another MSF (Petticoat or Comfort) instead?? Eeek help please!

Swatches (left to right): By Candlelight, Hang loose mixed together, Hang Loose pink, Hang Loose lilac, Jazzed

Ok so that was my first ever haul post, so excited to share! Love my items even though I'm still iffy on Happy Together. Which items did you get/love/hate from the collection? Let me know :)

Don't you just hate...

those people that start something and then leave it? Unfortunately, it seems that I have become one of those very people. Yikes! In my defense though, it has been a trés hectic month since my last post!!

First off, let me say that I work full time as well as to go Uni part time... so I generally don't have much free time to begin with. No excuses I know, no one made me start this. This past month was just, well, extra busy. Had to work my butt off to cover a co-worker who missed a couple of weeks work during the end of financial year (I work in finance so that sucks big time lol), lost my beloved iPhone, took a trip to the hospital and a got huge lesson in vanity, determination and what it means to love yourself no matter what.

Reeeaaalllyyy long story there, that I might share with you guys one day, but just know that it did have a happy ending :)

I'm heading to MAC tomorrow to check out the In The Groove collection!! So excited, I've been lusting after quite a few items ever since the promo shots came out and hearing all the raves from the US and UK beauty bloggers. I already have a couple things on hold, so I envisage a haul post coming up in the near future. Watch this space! lol

Talk soon xoxo
