I’m going on holiday… So what’s in my travel makeup bag?!

If you follow me on Twitter you’ll know that I’ve been talking non-stop about my upcoming adventure to the USA. Well the time has come and as this post goes live, I should be boarding a plane on my way there! 😀

I am soooo excited about this trip. It’s my first time to mainland America, I’ve only previously been to Hawaii where I actually got to celebrate my 11th birthday. So I can’t wait to see all the touristy sights such as Disneyland, Vegas, the Statue of Liberty, Alcatraz etc and of course all the SHOPPING! I’m not called a shopaholic for nothing you know lol

So here’s what’s in my travel make up bag… It’s probably more than I should really bring since I’m usually pretty lazy about applying make up when I’m on holiday and I’ll also be purhasing a bucket load of cosmetics over there but I do like to be prepared for any occasion!

  • Missha BB Cream No. 23 – It’s super hot in the US at the moment, so I’ll probably stick to wearing BB cream rather than foundation during the day. Plus this has the added bonus of SPF 42+!
  • Chanel Prolumiere Foundation
  • Face of Australia Face Base Primer
  • Urban Decay Naked Palette – Great colours that can take me from day to night
  • MAC Eyeshadow Quad (Blanc Type, All That Glitters, Soft Brown & Satin Taupe) – My essential MAC colours that have no dupes in the Naked Palette.
  • MAC MSF Natural
  • NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base
  • NARS Laguna Bronzer and Orgasm Blush Duo
  • NARS Albatross Highlighter
  • NARS Dolce Vita Blush
  • Covergirl LashBlast Fusion Mascara
  • Maybelline Line Stiletto Liquid Liner
  • Prestige Ultimate Brow Definer
  • Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm
  • Chanel Rivage Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick
  • Tom Ford Pink Dusk Private Blend Lip Colour
  • MAC Hug Me Lipstick
  • Illamasqua Divine Sheer Gloss

Australis Paparazzi Perfect High Definition Collection!

I’m definitely not camera shy but often after snapping a pic, I will wonder how my make up looked. Can you see that blemish on my chin? What about the redness in my cheeks? Do I have that dreaded white flash back look from using SPF? I’m sure most of you out there can relate to this (yes, I’m looking at you!). Well fear no more, as the new Australis Paparazzi Perfect Collection is here to answer all our prayers. The range consists of 4 High Definition products which are specially formulated with light reflecting particles that are sure to make you look Paparazzi Perfect day or night.

Today I bring you 3 items from the collection… Lights, camera, action!

Left to right: Foundation, Tinted Moisturiser and Blush

Australis Paparazzi Perfect HD Foundation in Natural Tan*
RRP $19.95 AUD
The lovely Jacie from You’ve Got Nail was kind enough to give me this foundation (along with the Tinted Moisturiser reviewed below) as they were too dark for her skin tone. Many thanks Jacie, since this foundation suits me nicely! Truthfully, I haven’t had much experience with HD foundation, but I know they are supposed to help smooth your skin so that it looks perfect in any light. I must say, this surely does that! It is an amazing formula, that is light with an almost fluffy, soft texture. It provides an amazing medium to full coverage with a lovely velvet finish. As soon as I apply this, my skin looks instantly smooth, even and blemish free. I am super impressed with this foundation as it gives my skin that air brushed yet still natural look, and it lasts all day! The only drawback I have is that it has a slight pink undertone to it, whereas I’m more on the yellow side, but it still works very well 😀=&4=&=&5=&

NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Nouveau Monde!

Nouveau Monde is a yet another example of why I love NARS. Released with their Spring 2011 collection, it combines a pale lilac colour with a deep olive, that simply takes my breath away. I would have never thought to combine these two colours, but alas, they work perfectly together. Bravo Mr. François Nars and thank you for your make up genious!

=&1=&
A very pretty pale lilac colour. It’s jam packed with micro glitter so it’s a little more on the frosty side than your usual NARS shadow, but there is hardly any fall out whatsoever. It’s a bit sheer at first swipe but easily buildable, and I think it compliments the depth and darkness of the olive green quite well. Can be used all over the lid or in the crease, as I did in my FOTD below.
=&2=&
A shimmery, rich olive green colour. In one word… GORGEOUS!! It is so pigmented and smooth, which makes it very easy to work with. I think this shadow would look amazing on anyone especially those with brown and hazel eyes. Wear it on it’s own on the lid, use it as a crease colour, or combine it with purples and blues for a sexy night time eye look. I don’t have anything else like it in my collection and I adore it!

My Illamasqua Transformation!

Last week I was lucky enough to have a makeover done at one of my favourite make up brands – Illamasqua. Like with all things Illamasqua, they do things differently and better than most other brands out there. A makeover isn’t just simply called a ‘makeover’, it’s a ‘transformation’ to bring out your alter ego. Now while my transformation wasn’t too extravagant, I was only going to a birthday dinner not a costume ball after all, I was so extremely happy with the experience and my final look.

My MUA was Oonagh, who was super friendly and very knowledgeable about make up and the brand. First off, she sat me down and we discussed what sort of look I wanted and the colours I preferred. She also asked if there were any products I was particularly interested in trying – why yes, of course, hello Gleam Cream! Then Oonagh proceeded to collect all the items she wanted to use and placed them on the counter in front of me, and once I was happy with all of them, we got started 🙂 I thought it was great that she had all the products really to go first, I’ve had countless makeovers where the MUA would go back and forth between me and getting a different product and that’s so annoying!

Oonagh started by priming my face with the Satin Primer and applied Gleam Cream to areas she wanted to highlight (ie. tops of my cheekbones). The Cream Foundation was applied next and set with the Powder Foundation along the t-zone for a flawless finish. For my cheeks, she used the Cream Blush in Betray and Illuminator in Fondle, which is a very pretty shimmery pink. Next came the eyes, the same Illuminator was used as a base then Soul was applied all over the lid, Drama to the crease and Succumb to under the brow. The Pure Pigment in Breath was also applied to the centre of my lids and inner corners for added sparkle, and the Precision Ink in Abyss was applied to my upper lashline. Then the Bronzing Duo was used to contour my cheeks slightly, and the Powder Blush in Hussy was added to the apples of my cheeks to set Betray and make the colour pop. The Powdered Metal in Ether was also applied to areas for more highlighting and glow, which you know I totally love. The Lipstick in Climax was used on my lips, and topped off with a little Sheer Lipgloss in Soul
