Though winter has well and truly arrived here in Melbourne, I can’t help but feel bright and cheery when looking at the new nail polish releases from the Chanel Summer 2014 Make Up Collection – Reflets D’Été!
I picked up 3 of the 5 shades in the collection and I must say they are hot, hot, hot! My picks were Sweet Lilac, Pink Tonic and Mirabella, and they are currently sitting among my all time favourite Chanel Le Vernis shades. Big call I know, but look at them! Way too pretty!
All three shades have a glossy cream finish with a subtle shimmer that reflects in the light. I also found the formulas to be very similar for each of the 3 shades and quite consistent with most of the Le Vernis range which is good. They apply light yet evenly onto the nail and are opaque with 2 coats. Lasting time is about 3-4 days without any chips. Love!
First up, we have Sweet Lilac (#615). A beautiful pale lavender shade with a soft pink tone to it. It’s a very feminine yet sophisticated shade, making it quite wearable for everyday. I’ve always been quite partial to pastel purple nail colours, and this one definitely takes the cake!
Next we have my favourite out of the 3, Pink Tonic (#619)! It is the most gorgeous, bright fuchsia pink. It’s the type of colour you can wear all year round, on your fingers or toes! I’ve been wearing it non-stop for the past couple of weeks and don’t see myself getting tired of it anytime soon. All you pink lovers out there, I guarantee you’ll adore this shade as much as I do!
Lastly I picked up Mirabella (#623). Honestly, I’m not usually a fan of orange shades, but totally had to make an exception for this one. It’s such a happy colour, that you can’t help but smile looking at it. Been rocking this one on my toes, even if they’re usually covered up by socks, tights and boots lol. Definitely can’t wait for sandals weather!
Seriously loving these 3 colours and highly recommend. They’re also Limited Edition, so if you’re tempted, I suggest you hop to it! Available now from all Chanel Beauty boutiques and counters or online, RRP AU$39/US$27.
Have you tried any of the Chanel Summer 2014 Le Vernis shades? Which are your favourite?
has recently added a spectacular new nail polish range to its luxury make up line. Woohoo! From vague memory it started with a capsule release of Spring shades but has now turned into a permanent range featuring 3 “Iconic Colour” families… Nudes, Reds and Intense shades (all of which can viewed on their official website here
). I visited the counter last week to check out the colours and 3 came home with me: English Rose, Metallic Khaki and Oxblood. One from each colour family coincidently because that’s how I roll 😉 I was tempted by many more, but thought I’d see how these performed first, and oh boy, let’s just say I’m already planning future shades to purchase! It’s L.O.V.E love.
First up, the packaging. Each polish comes in the usual cream coloured textured cardboard box. Open it up and you’ll find a very sleek looking bottle with the signature Burberry print embossed onto the metallic cover, that actually covers about ¾ of the bottle (similar to their foundations), I find it slightly misleading as it looks like you only get a tiny amount of product but it’s pretty nonetheless. I also like that the shape is rectangular, making it’s very easy to store and matches all other Burberry products perfectly. Pull off the cap to reveal the polish, and phew, you do get a good amount of product (8 ml/0.27 fl oz). The polishes have a wide brush, which I love, making application just that little bit quicker. Efficiency FTW!

Ok let’s talk formula. The polishes are smooth and apply evenly onto the nail, even the metallic one. Pigmentation is good, though I found them to be a little on the sheerer side so definitely need at least 2 coats. The formula also dries fast with a glossy finish. I can’t comment too much on lasting time at this stage as I only swatched the first 2 for this post and I’m on my 3rdday of wearing Oxblood. So far so good though, the colour looks fresh with no chipping or tip wear. Awesome.
Chanel has released 3 nail polishes or Le Vernis with their Spring 2013 collection “Printemps Precieux de Chanel
” and what fabulous polishes they are! Though not overly unique, the 3 new nail polishes are great, wearable shades for all skin tones and are sure to become staples in anyone’s nail polish wardrobe.
=&0=&=&1=&– A sweet, peachy nude. May seem a little boring but it’s a very feminine and work appropriate shade. It’s a creamy polish, with a slight pearlescent sheen in sunlight. Pretty but you’ll need 3 coats for even application and coverage.
=&2=& – A fun, bright pink with a slight coral tone. My favourite of the trio! It’s vibrant with a gorgeous gold pearl and I absolutely adore this shade. It just screams spring and summer to me, though I’m sure I’ll wear it all year round.
=&3=&– A vampy, brown wine shade. Seems a little out of place in a spring collection but gorgeous nonetheless. A very sophisticated looking shade that applies flawlessly to the nails. Will be reaching for this one more in the cooler months.
Available now from Chanel counters or online at Nordstrom. RRP US$27/AU$39.
One of the new big things in nails lately has definitely been nail polish strips. They are basically stickers made from real nail polish that you apply onto the nail with no drying time. Sounds pretty cool hey? Well it is and my first foray into this exciting trend are the Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Misbehaved!
One of my favourite things about beauty blogging is getting the chance to try out awesome brands that I would have otherwise overlooked. SAX Cosmetics
is definitely one of them! An Aussie brand with awesome products and even better prices. If you haven’t tried their products before, then I highly suggest you hop to it. But for today, I’d like to share SAX’s newest release with you, their Nail Life Nail Polishes
When black shatter and crackle polishes first appeared on the scene last year, I wasn’t a fan. Nope, not at all. I thought they made your nails look chipped and messy. Next the coloured versions were released, prettier but meh, I was still unconvinced. Next came the glitter polishes! Well as I’m a total sucker for glitter, I started to warm up to them… Then one Saturday afternoon, while sitting at a table with my gorgeous MBBE
ladies, I tried the China Glaze
Crackle Glaze Metal
polishes for the first time. And well, it was definitely love at first swatch!=&0=&
Purple is one of my favourite colours when it comes to nail polish, and Grape Pop is definitely high on that favourite list! It’s a lovely deep, blue toned purple that’s creamy and simply delicious lol. The formula is easy to work with, albeit a tad on the thick side, but that’s good as it goes on streak free. Grape Pop is quite pigmented so I like to apply in two thin coats to get my desired opaqueness, followed by a shiny top coat as the finish is a little flat otherwise. This colour is fabulous for any season and would suit with most skin tones. The picture below seriously does not do it justice, as in real life, it’s a more vibrant purple! 🙂
