CHANEL SUMMER 2014 LE VERNIS – PHOTOS, REVIEW & SWATCHES!
To celebrate that love (and a very generous press send out), the next few posts on the blog will be dedicated to all things NARS. Yep, I’ll be featuring a fantastic bunch of new products that will be sure to have you loving it along with me!
So let’s get started! I definitely believe the key to successful makeup is your base, aka foundation. The latest foundation release from NARS, is the Radiant Cream Compact Foundation. It’s a fantastic velvety cream formula that feels beautifully lightweight on the skin.
Using NARS’ exclusive Advanced Emulsion Technology, the foundation applies really well onto the face, blending seamlessly. It can also be used wet or dry, and the formula is easily buildable providing medium to full coverage without looking cakey or that you’re wearing a dozen layers of cover up. It has a lovely natural satin finish, leaving your face feeling soft with a healthy looking glow. A friend even commented on how smooth and clear my face looked! Got to love that!
The product (cream foundation and sponge) is sold separately to the casing, meaning the foundation is refillable when you run out of all its skin perfecting goodness! The casing is the same as other NARS compacts, made from the slight rubbery material, so it’s nice and slim but prone to dirty finger marks. Easily cleanable with a wet washcloth though. I prefer to apply the foundation with a brush rather than the sponge it comes with, as I feel the brush blends better using less product, but the sponge is good for travelling or touch ups on the go. Not that you’ll need much touching up, on my normal/slightly oily combo skin, the foundation lasts a good 8 hours before I see any fading. Happy days!
The shade range is pretty impressive too. Available in 20 shades, there’s one to suit the majority of skintones! I was lucky enough to receive the shade Barcelona (Medium 4) which is my same foundation shade in the Sheer Glow formula, and it’s a perfect match to my medium tan skintone. 🙂
Before and after mug shots are below. As you can see the foundation does an amazing job of evening, brightening and smoothing the skin! Win, win, win! In the after shots, I’m wearing the NARS Radiant Cream Foundation, Anastasia Brow Wiz, NARS Eye Paint in Tatar and Dior Addict Lip Gloss in Fairy Pink.

First up, the packaging. Each polish comes in the usual cream coloured textured cardboard box. Open it up and you’ll find a very sleek looking bottle with the signature Burberry print embossed onto the metallic cover, that actually covers about ¾ of the bottle (similar to their foundations), I find it slightly misleading as it looks like you only get a tiny amount of product but it’s pretty nonetheless. I also like that the shape is rectangular, making it’s very easy to store and matches all other Burberry products perfectly. Pull off the cap to reveal the polish, and phew, you do get a good amount of product (8 ml/0.27 fl oz). The polishes have a wide brush, which I love, making application just that little bit quicker. Efficiency FTW!

Ok let’s talk formula. The polishes are smooth and apply evenly onto the nail, even the metallic one. Pigmentation is good, though I found them to be a little on the sheerer side so definitely need at least 2 coats. The formula also dries fast with a glossy finish. I can’t comment too much on lasting time at this stage as I only swatched the first 2 for this post and I’m on my 3rdday of wearing Oxblood. So far so good though, the colour looks fresh with no chipping or tip wear. Awesome.
Six shades were released and there’s definitely a shade to please all skintones and blush preferences, from pale pink to a deep fuchsia. I picked up 3 shades: Presage, Revelation and Fantastic. Which appealed to my penchant for pink and peachy blush tones. And boy, they don’t disappoint!

Absolutely adore the shades and the texture of these. The blushes are a cream to powder formula and very easy to work with, and they blend well into the skin with a natural, even finish. Pigmentation is good, but also buildable without caking up. Lasting time is fabulous, I can get a good 6-8 hours on my normal/combination skin. Bottom line, I’m super happy with the cream blushes, lusting after more, and hope Chanel continues to release new shades!
Le Blush Creme de Chanel in Presage #62
A lovely warm peach shade. A great one for “no make up” make up looks as it just gives a warm, healthy glow to the skin.
Le Blush Creme de Chanel in Revelation #63
My favourite of the lot! This was actually one of the only two blushes I brought with me on my USA holiday last September! It’s a beautiful warm, rosy pink. One of those no fuss shades that matches any look.
Le Blush Creme de Chanel in Fantastic #66
This is a stunning fuchsia shade with a hint of berry. Super pigmented so a little goes a long way. This one makes for a Fantastic bold cheek, you can pair with smoky eyes for the evening.

The 10th annual beautydirectory Star Awards saw top beauty PRs and journalists from Australia and New Zealand recognised for their achievements in a breakfast event held at The Tea Room at QVB. The award ceremony was held on November 14, with the event sponsored by Veet and Scholl Party Feet.
The awards were open to all Australian beauty media and both in-house and agency PRs for beauty brands, with an expert judging panel selecting the winners for 16 categories. This year witnessed the highest number of entries ever, with the awards attracting over 200 entries across media and PR categories.
Judges for the media awards included Myer general manager of cosmetics and concessions Liz Webster, Priceline communications manager Gabby Tully, David Jones planning manager for beauty Sarah Kennedy and ModelCo founder and CEO Shelley Barrett.
I would describe Peony & Blush Suede as a very feminine and sophisticated fragrance. It’s not an overly flower power scent that you might expect from the name, instead it is a lovely warm, subtly sweet floral. The floral bouquet is charming and flirtatious with a juicy bite of red apple, which adds the sweetness to the scent, and the suede base really helps to ground the fragrance giving it warmth and added luxury. At first spray you do get that burst of strong, juicy and floral top notes but then it softens down to a lovely, clean powdery scent which I adore. The longevity of the fragrance is also pretty amazing, it lasts a whole day on me without the scent morphing at all. Peonies also happen to be my favourite flower! Win, win!
I don’t have much experience when it comes to fragrance layering but Jo Malone has recommended combining this with English Pear & Freesia or Orange Blossom to play up either the fruity or floral scents of the cologne 🙂 Overall I am loving this fragrance and it has definitely become my signature spring scent!
The Peony & Blush Suede collection is available now from all Jo Malone boutiques and online.
